Real Asset Management has snapped up a senior funds management lead to spearhead its growth plans for its diversified real estate business.

George Websdale joins from Dexus, where he led the healthcare partnerships team and developed the investment strategy that grew the fund from $300 million to more than $2 billion.

Websdale brings over 30 years of experience in institutional and private-capital real estate fund management.

In the past 15 years, he has sourced and executed more than $3.5 billion in real estate transactions, including some of Australia’s largest healthcare deals.

Before spending five years at Dexus, Websdale was head of property at Heathley, a private-client real estate fund manager, and general manager of office and industrial at Stockland. Earlier in his career, he worked at AMP Capital Investors and Schroders Investment Management Australia, managing office and industrial asset portfolios.

RAM’s head of real estate Matthew Strottonsaid Websdale’s healthcare background would be valuable as the firm expands its real estate platform.

“We’re pleased to welcome a senior fund manager of George’s calibre to our team,” Strotton said. “His extensive experience in Australian real estate, particularly in healthcare, will be invaluable as we continue investing in healthcare assets across our listed and unlisted funds, and build opportunities in growing sub-sectors including retail and office.”

Websdale said this is an exciting time to join a fast-growing asset manager as commercial real estate enters a new growth cycle.
